Quick Details
From 10-15 September 2025, Kieron Winn will be poet in residence at Rydal Mount, the home of William Wordsworth.
At 4pm on Saturday 13th September, Kieron will read from his new collection of poems, No Time, in Wordsworth’s beautiful drawing room. Admission to the reading is free, with drinks and nibbles provided. Come along and hear poems about love, holidays, family, Grasmere and home.
Kieron, whose poems have appeared in magazines such as New Statesman, The Spectator and The Times Literary Supplement, was previously poet in residence at the house in 2021. He says, ‘It’s wonderful to be returning to my favourite poet’s favourite home. It’s an honour, and I am very grateful to Christopher Wordsworth Andrew for his kindness in inviting me. I’ve been coming to the Lake District since I was 18, and Wordsworth’s poetry runs deep in my heart.’
Kieron studied English at Christ Church, Oxford. He still lives in Oxford, and spends much of the year in Penrith.
Christopher Ricks, editor of The Oxford Book of English Verse, introduced Kieron at a reading by saying that he is ‘A very good poet indeed…a poet to whom Wordsworth matters a very great deal’.
Melvyn Bragg said of Kieron’s first collection of poems, The Mortal Man: ‘I have had much pleasure reading the poems. There is a real talent for binding centuries together and there are additions to the great Lake District tradition.’
