Yes, dogs are very welcome in our gardens so long as they are kept on a lead – there is a cat who lives in our gardens called Dora – she does not suffer loose dogs! We cannot permit dogs inside the main house but we do make exceptions for support animals. Please email [email protected] to make arrangements for this, or for any further questions.

Rydal Mount is accessible by foot, bus, or car.
If you fancy a stroll, Rydal Mount is about a 40 minute walk from both Ambleside and Grasmere. Located at the mid-point between these two towns, Rydal also makes the perfect stopping point if you’re visiting both – just head along the old ‘Coffin Route’ from Grasmere for fantastic views of Rydal Water, or take a leisurely ramble through Rydal Park from Ambleside and spot the famous Rydal Falls along the way.
Both the 555 (Lancaster/Kendal-Keswick) and 599 (Bowness-Grasmere) stop near Rydal Mount. Alight at the stop ‘Rydal Church for Rydal Mount’ – we are about a 2 minute walk up the road adjacent to the bus stop.
We have several spaces in our attached car park that can be used for free while visiting the house & gardens. Please note that parking is not guarenteed, and spaces can fill up quickly. This is not a public car park, and should only be used while visiting Rydal Mount & Gardens.
